erotic hands that, he knew, could make him come in two minutes flat or in two
hours, depending on the mood. He was their healer, and all of them had been
hurt at some time or another. He was a very good healer and a very good
teacher, as well. And suddenly he was weary, and in a cold ocean of pain.
"Okay." He murmured. There were sighs as the nymphs herded him into the
hallway, and he felt Grace's arm, strong, companionable, and with an earthy,
attractive sensuality that Adrian had seen first, but that Green had nurtured,
around his shoulders on one side.
"Arturo will be jealous." He said, weakly, feeling noble. He loved Grace
well, he loved them all, the vampires, the elves, the fairies, the sidhe. But
if he hadn't been any of those things, if he had just been a man, he would
have loved Grace as a friend. And Arturo, as well.
"Arturo's an elf first, a jealous suitor last." Grace said dryly. "He'll
understand like no on else will." And with that she pushed Green into the
darkling, down the hall and into her room. Green had insisted on giving her
one of the larger rooms, but she had still made it a homey place, with a
crafting corner, a sewing machine and huge boxes of yarn and fabric where
other people would have an office and a computer. It felt like comfort, and
the bed was deep and wide, and the nymphs were busy with Green's clothing.
Grace wrapped her arms around Green and kissed him thoroughly, without fang,

until he sighed and melted into her flesh. She pushed him back onto the bed,
and, kneeling to one side, kissed him again while the nymphs went to work with
his bare skin, and his sensitive groin. Green felt the cold that had crept up
on him when his heart had broken recede, and his whole body began to heat up
with, if not passion, then at least the warmth of friendship and gratitude.
"Now shut up, healer," Grace said, before Green lost himself in sex and the
honest pleasure of friends, "And let us heal you.
Green woke up in his own bed, feeling thoroughly sexed and a little
disoriented. Arturo was sitting on his bed, looking at him thoughtfully.
"She said it was a 'bachelorette fling'." He said, as soon as Green's eyes
could focus on him.
"Is that what it was?" Green croaked. "I could have sworn it was a
pity-fuck...but I've never had one before, so I couldn't be sure.
Arturo grinned, looking self-satisfied. "As long as I wasn't the one to have
to say it.
Green looked away, for once embarrassed about something that the sidhe took
for granted. "She's lovely, mate you're a lucky man." And then, before Arturo
could answer, Green asked the painful question. "Where'd Cory sleep? I almost
didn't recognize my own bed.
"Partly with Adrian," Arturo began, "Really sleeping they got in around four
a.m., and she was pretty much asleep in his arms, then partly in her own
room.
"I don't know if I ever got around to showing her that she had one..." Green
began, and then, through four walls and a separating hallway he heard her gasp
awake. From the look of Arturo's face, Arturo had heard her as well. Green
rolled out of bed quickly, and for once donned a robe, and they both hurried
towards her room.
Cory was standing next to the bed bent legged and ready for action, wearing an
outsized T-shirt and white cotton panties. She had the look of someone who had
sprung from bed before she was truly awake, and was waiting for her brain to
catch up with her body.
"Did you hear that?" She asked, breathlessly, putting Arturo and Green both on
alert. "It was a cracking sound...like an echo or something...just
now...didn't you hear that?
"I don't fucking believe this..." Green murmured, and Arturo shot him a sharp
look. Green grimaced back. "Nothing important, Cory, luv...just some idiot,
playing around with elemental forces.
Cory blinked, focused on the two men in her room, and sat abruptly back onto
the bed, feeling safe. "What day is it?" She asked muzzily.
"Friday." Arturo told her, a smile playing with his impassive features.
"Do I work today, Green?" She asked, not sure how long his imposed vacation
lasted.
"Not until Monday." Green told her, waiting for what would come next.
"Am I supposed to do anything today?" She asked, honestly at a loss. Green
felt for her suddenly. Her whole life had been cut loose from normal one
night she had been a gas station clerk, living at home and beginning a new
love affair, and within five days she'd had her entire life put into the hands
of a virtual stranger. And Green still had tasks for her to complete.
"Arturo's taking you to apply for a permit to carry a weapon, and then you've
got a trip to the shooting range but that's not for a couple of hours.
"And before that?" She was waking up now, he could tell. The strangeness of
being answerable to Green for her actions was settling in. There had been a
faint irritation to that question as though she expected him to have planned
her life out, and resented the hell out of it. He'd put a rest to that if he
could.
"I don't know, Cory you're grown. Do whatever you want I've got work to do,
and I need Arturo until you leave for the permit. Enjoy your day, luv if you
need anything for your room, ask Blissa. Between her and Grace, the house is
pretty well run.
Cory looked around the room it was a lovely space, the same light wood

paneling that graced the walls of the rest of the house, plain but good, and
the waxed hardwood floors that shone everywhere else. Green could see the
impulse strike her before she opened her mouth.
"Thumbtacks?" She asked suddenly.
"On my walls, are you high?" He shot back. "I cut that paneling with my bare
hands. If you want to hang a picture, simply put it out by the wall you had in
mind, and the sprites will take care of it in fact, you're the most excitement
they've had in years. Anything else? [ Pobierz całość w formacie PDF ]
